[ARCHIVED] Free Curbside Christmas Tree Recycling

Last year thousands of trees were recycled from Azusa through this program.

This season, from December 26 through the second week in January, all Christmas trees placed at residential curbsides or near trash bin enclosures at multi-family dwellings will be picked up by
Athens Services. Most trees will be picked up on the normal trash collection day. Christmas trees will be ground up and used as mulch or a cover material at the local landfill. All plastic containers, lights, metal stands, ornaments, and the bulk of tinsel must be removed. Flocked trees or trees coated with a fire retardant will be accepted. All trees over 6 feet in length must be cut in half.

If you miss the Christmas tree pick-up date, please cut up your tree into four foot sections and place it in your green yard waste container(s). If you have any questions, please call Athens Services at 336-3636.
