[ARCHIVED] Free Compost or Mulch to Azusa Residents!

Azusa residents can receive up to 30 gallons per household of compost or mulch for FREE from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.; and unlimited amount for the last hour or until supplies run out. Residents should bring their own sturdy containers or buckets to pick up the loose compost or mulch (no plastic or flimsy trash bags, please). Shovels will be available but own shovel is welcome! Proof of Azusa residency is required (e.g. utility bill or driver’s license with Azusa address).
Compost is a nutrient-rich soil amendment as a result of natural decomposition of organic materials such as leaves, twigs, grass clippings, and/or food scraps. Mulch can be used as landscape covering to control weeds or erosion and retain moisture in the soil. It is made from wood chips, ground up landscape trimmings, shredded bark, or other coarse green materials.
The Compost and Mulch Giveaway program is the City of Azusa’s special way of saying THANK YOU to residents for participating in its successful yard waste program. The Giveaway essentially “closes the loop” in recycling when materials placed in yard waste containers by residents is made into compost or mulch and returned to the community for reuse.
For more information on the Compost/Mulch Giveaway, call (626) 812-5198/5225.
